In this session, Christian explains how you can answer the typical fundraising question: “How much money can you raise?”. Your data and experience holds the key, but you might feel daunted by your data – whether it is too much or too little. Let me help you explain three simple measures which can come to your rescue and help you explain what is or isn’t possible, to help you set realistic targets and manage expectations.

Christian Pröpper

Christian Pröpper has over 20 years’ experience in fundraising in the UK and is currently working for Marlborough College (a private school south of Oxford) as Associate Director (Development), where he has been preparing the College for the launch of an ambitious £75m fundraising campaign to increase the number of free places at the school. This campaign launched in March 2023 and has already broken a record for running a Giving Day that raised over £1.3 million. Before joining Marlborough, he led on the creation and implementation of fundraising campaigns and appeals at the University of Oxford for causes such as student support, access to water in Africa, better facilities and activities for the elderly at the Ashmolean Museum and the conservation of maps and books at the Bodleian libraries. His team also delivered reporting and insights across all fundraising activities for the University and its independent colleges. Over the years, Christian has merged his regular giving and fundraising skills with skills in data management, system process, analytical and insight. He has developed a variety of techniques, including Culture of Giving Scores, engagement matrices and bespoke prospect management systems to help fundraisers prioritise their activities across a variety of charitable organisations. Christian is an alumnus of the Universities of Southampton and Liverpool. In his spare time, he is a Senior Advisor for Halpin Consulting and runs Propper-Fundraising.com – a free learning resource collating the best fundraising-related blogs in one place.
