Alumni giving is an important pillar of alumni engagement. But how do you effectively incorporate it in your overall alumni engagement strategy and gain support from your alumni? What are the key ingredients of a successful alumni annual giving program? How can it effectively complement and support other areas of engagement including volunteering, events and communications and help build strong alumni communities of support? How do you align alumni giving with institutional priorities and gain wider support? Using examples from Nena’s experience, as well as participants’ relevant examples, the session will explore these key questions. It aims to encourage discussion and help build a better understanding of integrated approach to alumni engagement and the role alumni giving plays in it.

Nena brings nearly twenty years of international experience in the higher education sector. At Hertie School she is responsible for alumni engagement and the strategic growth of the School’s global alumni network in over 100 countries. Prior to Hertie, Nena oversaw alumni relations at the Central European University (CEU) in Vienna and Budapest. The work of her team has been recognized for its innovation and excellence, including a CASE Circle of Excellence Award 2022. A firm believer in collaboration and the power of sharing best practice, Nena is an active CASE volunteer and has served as speaker, editorial board member, annual conference co-chair and task force member.
