Cultural organisations everywhere are turning to fundraising to fill gaps left by falling public subsidy and to fund new initiatives. This is not a short-term question and simply adding a Friends club or finding one corporate sponsor will achieve little. What cultural organisations need is reliable, long-term sources of income. Fundraising is a strategic question.

The seminar will be led by David Dixon, an international fundraising consultant in the cultural sector with experience of training and teaching in several countries.
David is an entrepreneur and management and fundraising consultant whose
companies operate internationally, especially with cultural and not-for profit
organisations. He worked with Latin America solidarity organisations before
becoming a senior fundraising manager at Oxfam where he was a deputy Director of Oxfam’s 50th anniversary activities. He went on to become Development Director at the Oxford Playhouse theatre in 1991 where he pioneered audience-fundraising in the arts and heritage sectors in the UK.
